Ukulele · A gentle first instrument

Ukulele lessons for a confident first step

Live ukulele classes at a relaxed beginner pace. Four strings and small hands make it a friendly first instrument, and the skills carry straight over to guitar.

What your child learns

Inside the ukulele course

Taught in the right order, one skill at a time, with live correction in every class.

Chords and strumming

The handful of chords that unlock hundreds of songs, and steady strumming patterns to go with them.

Songs they recognize

Real, familiar songs from the first classes, so practice feels like playing, not homework.

Rhythm and timing

Keeping a steady beat and changing chords in time, the habits every instrument needs.

A relaxed beginner pace

Small steps, one clear target a week, and no rush to move on before a skill is secure.

The 12-class module

How the course is built

Twelve classes, each building on the last, with one clear practice target to work on every week.

Who it’s for

Ukulele, ages 6 and up

  • Young children starting their first instrument
  • Beginners who want quick, early wins
  • Families thinking about guitar later

Not sure? The assessment class will tell you

Class length

Matched to age and goals. The instructor recommends one in the report.

Choose a class length to see who it suits

Short and focused. Young children learn best in short bursts, so every minute is spent playing.

Enough time to warm up, learn something new and play it through properly. The length most families choose.

Room for technique, repertoire and theory in one class. Best for older students and higher grades.

Questions

Ukulele questions

Is ukulele a good first instrument?

Often, yes. It is small, light and gentle on the fingers, and the chords and rhythm carry straight over if your child moves to guitar later.

Can my child switch to guitar later?

Yes. Switching instruments is easy at Seven Notes Academy, and nothing learned on ukulele is wasted.

Which ukulele should we buy?

You don’t need one to book. The instructor will recommend a size at the assessment class.
