Privacy Policy

Last updated 28 October 2026.

This policy explains what information we collect when you visit the site or book an assessment class, why we collect it, how we use and share it, and the rights you have, wherever you live.

1. Introduction

Seven Notes Academy (“we”, “us”, “our”) operates the website sevennotesacademy.com (the “Site”), through which we offer live music classes and 1-on-1 lessons in guitar, piano, vocals, drums, ukulele and music theory (the “Services”).

We teach students in India and internationally. This policy applies to visitors and prospective students (“you”). By using the Site, including submitting the form to book an assessment class, you consent to the collection and use of your information as described here.

If you do not agree with this policy, please do not submit your information through the Site, and contact us directly using the details in section 12 instead.

This policy is prepared with reference to:

  • the Information Technology Act, 2000 (India);
  • the Information Technology (Reasonable Security Practices and Procedures and Sensitive Personal Data or Information) Rules, 2011 (India);
  • the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (India), to the extent it applies and its rules have come into force;
  • applicable international data protection principles, including, where relevant, the EU and UK General Data Protection Regulation (“GDPR”) for students in the European Union or United Kingdom.

This policy is governed by the laws of India. Any dispute arising from it is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts of Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, without prejudice to any additional rights you have under the data protection laws of your own country.

By submitting information through the Site, including the booking form, you consent to our collecting, using and disclosing it as described in this policy and, where applicable, to its transfer to India for processing and storage, wherever you live.

If you submit information on behalf of a child (for example, booking an assessment class for your child), you confirm that you are their parent or legal guardian, and that you give this consent on their behalf as well as your own.

We may update this policy from time to time. If we make a material change, we will post a clear notice on the Site before it takes effect.

4. Information we collect

4.1 Information you give us

When you book an assessment class, we collect:

  • the student’s name and age;
  • the instrument they want to learn;
  • your country, WhatsApp number and email address;
  • the days and time you would like us to call you, and your time zone.

If you message or email us, we also keep what you send. We do not collect payment or financial information through the Site: the form books an assessment class and takes no payment.

4.2 Information about children

Many of our students are under 18. When you book for a child, we treat the information about them as given with your consent as their parent or legal guardian. We do not knowingly collect information directly from a child without a parent or guardian taking part in the booking.

If you believe a child has given us personal information without a parent or guardian’s consent, please contact our Grievance Officer (section 12), and we will remove it from our records.

4.3 Information collected automatically

When you browse the Site, some information is collected automatically, including:

  • the pages you visit and how long you stay;
  • your device, browser and operating system;
  • your approximate location, based on your IP address;
  • how you reached the Site (for example, a search engine or an advertisement);
  • your use of forms and buttons on the Site.

This is collected through cookies and similar technologies, described in section 5.

5. Cookies and tracking technologies

The Site uses cookies and similar technologies from third-party service providers for:

  • Website analytics: to understand how visitors use the Site, such as which pages are viewed and for how long.
  • Tag and script management: to manage the tracking technologies used on the Site in one place.
  • Advertising measurement: to measure how well our advertising works, including when an advertisement leads to an assessment class booking.
  • Videos: our videos load from a third-party video platform only when you press play, and that platform may then set its own cookies.

You can control or turn off cookies in your browser settings. Turning them off may affect how some parts of the Site work. We do not control cookies set by other websites once you leave the Site.

6. How we share your information

We share information only with these categories of third parties, and only to run the Site and deliver our Services:

  • Website hosting and infrastructure providers: to build, host and run the Site, and to store what you submit through the booking form.
  • Email and messaging services: to reply to you and arrange your assessment class.
  • Analytics and advertising service providers: as described in section 5.
  • Our instructors and staff: internally, to schedule and teach your assessment class or lessons.

We do not share your personal information with any third party for their own marketing without your explicit consent, and we do not sell your personal information.

We may disclose your information if the law, a court order or a valid request from a government authority requires it, or if we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect the rights, property or safety of the academy, our students or the public.

7. International students and cross-border transfer

We welcome students from outside India, and this policy applies to you wherever you are. Because our Services are based in India, the information you submit is transferred to, stored and processed in India, whose data protection laws may differ from those of your country.

If you are in the European Union or United Kingdom, you have rights under the GDPR in addition to those in section 11, including the right to complain to your local data protection authority. If you are elsewhere, your local data protection laws may also apply, and nothing in this policy limits the rights you hold under them.

By using the Site and submitting your information, you consent to this transfer and processing in India.

The Site links to other websites (for example, exam boards). We have no control over them and are not responsible for their content or privacy practices. Please read their privacy policies before giving them any information.

9. How long we keep information

We keep what you submit through the booking form for up to 3 years after our last contact with you, to respond to your request, provide our Services and keep reasonable business records, unless the law requires us to keep it longer. To have it deleted sooner, contact our Grievance Officer (section 12).

10. Security

We take reasonable measures to protect the information you give us, including relying on our hosting provider’s platform security. No transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

11. Your rights

Wherever you live, you have these rights over the personal information we hold about you:

  • Access: to ask for a copy of the information we hold about you.
  • Correction: to ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete information.
  • Deletion: to ask us to delete your information from our records.
  • Restriction: to object to, or ask us to restrict, how we use your information.
  • Withdrawal of consent: to withdraw your consent at any time, where consent is the basis for our using your information.
  • Portability (where your local law provides it): to ask for a copy of your information in a structured, commonly used format.

To use any of these rights, contact our Grievance Officer (section 12). We may ask you to confirm your identity before we respond.
