Devyani topped the North India region in her RSL Grade 3 exam in the 2024 (A) session. She learned on the same graded pathway every student here follows, whatever the instrument: one skill at a time, in order, with an instructor listening to every note.

Why most children stop

Buying the instrument was the easy part.

Most children who give up an instrument don’t lack talent. They hit one of three problems, and nobody fixes it.

Problem 01

No one to check and correct mistakes

Videos and apps can show a child what to play. They can’t hear what the child actually played, so small mistakes go unnoticed and get practiced every day.

  • Wrong technique goes unchecked
  • Posture and hand position drift
  • Timing slips without anyone noticing
  • Bad habits set in early

You can’t tell if it’s actually working

Problem 02

No proper sequence or curriculum

A child might learn chords one week, scales the next and a song after that, without anything connecting the lessons.

  • Skills aren’t introduced in the right order
  • Each class doesn’t build on the last
  • Concepts come before the child is ready
  • Gaps in the basics show up later

Effort goes in, but progress doesn’t compound

Problem 03

No way to measure progress

Without a clear curriculum or objective benchmarks, parents are left guessing whether their child is actually improving.

  • No clear milestones to work towards
  • No structured assessments
  • No outside standard to measure against
  • No written feedback for parents

Interest fades when progress is invisible

The hidden cost

Repetition does not correct a mistake. It installs it.

12 WEEKSWEEK 1A small mistakeWEEK 12A habit

Every week a mistake is practiced, it gets harder to undo. That is why every class here is live: the instructor hears it, and fixes it, before it sets.

The Seven Notes method

Built on a foundation, not a shortcut.

Live lessons, built on a graded pathway. Three things, done properly, every class.

We develop the child’s interest

Real music from the very first class

CLASS 1A REAL SONG
  • A real song in the first class, not weeks of drills
  • Songs your child chooses, alongside the syllabus
  • Small wins every week, so practice feels like playing

They learn because they want to play

We teach in the right order

Every skill builds on the last

  • One structured curriculum, taught in a carefully planned sequence
  • Each new skill is introduced when your child is ready for it
  • Live correction in class stops mistakes becoming habits
  • One clear practice target to work on each week

Nothing is taught at random

We follow international standards

Progress measured against recognized standards

FOUNDATION → DEBUT → GRADE 8FD12345678

I’ve spent 20 years on stage and in recording sessions, and I’ve taught more than 5,000 students. Most of the children who came to me after other lessons had the same story: they could play a few things, but nobody had ever corrected the basics, and nothing had been taught in order.

Seven Notes Academy is built to fix that. Every class is live. Every skill comes in the right order. And progress is measured against the same graded standards examiners use.

  • 20 years as a performer and session artist
  • 5,000+ students taught, across the six countries
  • Every instructor certified and trained in one method
  • RSL, Trinity and ABRSM graded pathways
  • Regular written examiner feedback on every student

“A child who enjoys the instrument picks it up on a Tuesday afternoon without being asked.”

Searched 'guitar classes near me' in Lucknow and got lucky with Seven Notes Academy. The instructors actually adjust to how you learn best, not just a fixed lesson plan, and that made all the difference for me as a complete beginner.

My daughter has been here for the last six months and she’s loving her guitar, and so am I. Her teacher is very nice and very kind, and made learning the guitar very simple for her.

I was nervous about singing in front of anyone, let alone a teacher. Found Seven Notes Academy through a friend, and the vocal training here is patient, structured, and genuinely confidence-building.

How you start

Start with an assessment class

One 30-minute class with a certified instructor, and a written report the same day. No payment details, and no sales call.

How it works

  1. 01

    You book

    An assessment class

    30 minutes, 1-on-1 with a certified instructor.

  2. 02

    We assess

    A written report, same day

Readiness and musical aptitude, scored, with a recommended starting point.

  3. 03

    You decide

    Start the 12-class module

Or don’t. The report is yours to keep either way.

Nothing to pay to book

Class length

Matched to age and goals. The instructor recommends one in the report.

Choose a class length to see who it suits

Short and focused. Young children learn best in short bursts, so every minute is spent playing.

Enough time to warm up, learn something new and play it through properly. The length most families choose.

Room for technique, repertoire and theory in one class. Best for older students and higher grades.

Two ways to learn

At the studio

Group classes

Your child learns alongside other students at our Gomti Nagar studio.

  • A certified instructor leads every class
  • The same graded pathway: Trinity, ABRSM or RSL
  • A fixed weekly slot, so practice becomes a habit

Learning alongside others

One instructor, one student

1-on-1 lessons

Every class is planned around one child: their pace, their pieces, their next exam.

  • Corrections the moment a mistake happens
  • A pace set by your child, not a group
  • Focused preparation for a particular grade

Built around one student

Questions, answered

Before you visit

Where is the studio?

At Kisan Bazar, Vibhuti Khand, Gomti Nagar, Lucknow 226010. Use “Get directions” on this page to open it in Google Maps.

When is the studio open?

Monday to Friday: 2 pm – 8 pm. Saturday and Sunday: 10 am – 7 pm.

What age can my child start?

From age 6, once they’re ready to follow structured instruction. If you’re not sure, tell us their age when you book and we’ll advise you honestly.

Group classes or 1-on-1 lessons: which is better?

Both follow the same graded pathway. Group classes suit children who enjoy learning alongside others. 1-on-1 lessons suit a child who needs a pace of their own, or is working towards a particular exam. If you’re not sure, ask the instructor at the assessment class.

Do we need our own instrument?

For regular practice at home, yes. Practice between classes is what drives progress, so have a basic instrument ready before the first regular class. For the assessment class at the studio, your child can use ours.

Can we change the class time later?

Yes. Tell us at least a week in advance and we’ll help you reschedule.
